Dr. Joe Chow
Dr. Joe Chow is the Medical Director at Rusty Ridge Animal Center. Dr. Joe earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Midwestern University and completed his clinical training with Southwest Veterinary Specialty Surgery, Arizona Veterinary Oncology for small animals, and multiple dairy farms and ambulatory equine services for large animals. Dr. Joe's areas of professional interest include orthopedics, sports medicine/rehabilitation, surgery, and neurology.
After spending the majority his professional career in the human medicine field, Dr. Joe transitioned to veterinary medicine in order to provide gold standard care to those without a voice. The best part about working in the veterinary field, according to Dr. Joe, is getting to work with multiple species, which inspires him to improve and expand on providing quality care to animals and their owners. Dr. Joe believes that quality care and compassion speak for itself, and every day is a new day to improve and be better.
Born and raised in Illinois, Dr. Joe attended the University of Alabama for undergraduate studies before pursing his career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Joe has multiple dogs and cats, each with their own special need or medical condition, that he has taken in with the hope to give them the best life and home possible. In his free time, Dr. Joe enjoys renovating and repairing homes, selling real estate, and owning and operating Dr. Joe's Mobile Veterinary Services. Dr. Joe also loves watching the Alabama Crimson Tide Football team and visiting local classic car shows in hopes of finding one to restore!
